OLATHE — Kansas State University's Olathe campus is expanding its Digital Skills programs with the 10-month Digital Marketing Bootcamp. The first cohort kicks-off on Feb. 22.

The Digital Marketing Bootcamp is a full-time, noncredit job training program for people of all backgrounds and skillsets who want to enter the field of digital marketing. With the bootcamp, participants will go from zero experience to job-ready professionals.

"Technologies are shifting how companies reach current and prospective customers, which means digital marketing strategies are critical to the bottom line," said Angela Buzard, manager of training and development at K-State Olathe. "Because of that, this bootcamp is an alternative learning pathway to providing accessible, current and future-focused education for this changing landscape to help newcomers start a successful career and close the growing digital skills gap in Kansas and Missouri."

The Digital Marketing Bootcamp is part of the ongoing Digital Skills Bootcamp series that K-State Olathe developed with HackerU, an institute that works with academic institutions, government organizations and global companies to offer advanced workforce and professional development programs in digital skills. The collaboration launched a cybersecurity bootcamp in November 2020, with a second cybersecurity cohort that began in early January.

"HackerU is proud to further our partnership with K-State Olathe to provide immersive educational opportunities throughout the Kansas City region," said Dan Vigdor, co-founder and executive chairman of HackerUSA. "Our core mission as a company is to transform lives by preparing learners with the skills they need to succeed in the digital age, and this program will play a major role in fulfilling that mission."

The curriculum for the Digital Marketing Bootcamp is robust and covers topics such as search engine optimization, data analytics, email marketing, digital strategy and content writing. Material is taught and explored using immersive lectures, individual and group exercises, virtual labs and real-world simulations. Content is taught by experts who are currently active in the field and topics and information are consistently refined to adhere to the most current digital marketing practices.

After completing the program, students will have built an extensive e-portfolio that includes a website, PPC campaign, SEO plan and social media strategy, which demonstrates their diverse digital marketing knowledge to future employers.

Enrolled students also benefit from personalized professional development support that includes resume writing, LinkedIn profile building, interview coaching and job placement assistance from the program's built-in network of instructors, mentors and industry leaders.
