Fun with Food Science Camp

July 15-19, 2019

8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

About the Camp

This camp is for the curious junior scientist who wants to know the how and why of food. Explore the crazy science behind food and the way we taste it — including learning the answer to the question of why junk food tastes so good.

Lessons include:

• Chemistry and packaging of processed foods 
• Learning about the five taste groups 
• Career exploration and applying science to growing

• Food preparation
• The myths and facts about organic GMOs
• Culinary and cooking skills in our state-of-the-art kitchen 

At the end of the week, campers will prepare and share treats with their families and guests. 


Middle school students, including those entering sixth grade and leaving eighth grade.

Time and Date

8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 15, through Friday, July 19. 


K-State Olathe, 22201 W. Innovation Dr., Olathe


$185 (includes a T-shirt and a field trip)
