OLATHE — Kansas State University Olathe recently recognized outstanding graduate students with its first student awards, celebrating excellence in research, industry engagement and academic achievement.

These awards celebrate the hard work and outstanding contributions our students make throughout their academic journeys,” said Kimberly Voight, director of student services. “We’re incredibly proud of their accomplishments and grateful to the faculty who took the time to recognize and nominate them.”

The Clay Blair Outstanding Student Award was presented to Sarah Paynter, a master’s student in applied biosciences, and Madison Bemisderfer, a master’s student in animal science. The award honors students who demonstrate exceptional scholarship, professional development or creativity in alignment with at least one of the six K-State Olathe values.

Ashlee Gibbons, a master’s student in animal science, received the Outstanding Connections to Industry Partners Award for her contributions to building relationships with external industry partners that reflect the university’s strategic plan, specifically around engaging in all we do.

Logan Diller, a master’s student in animal science, was awarded the Excellence in Research Contributions Award for his dedication to advancing research efforts that support campus values.

In addition to these honors, the campus has awarded a record number of scholarships to students pursuing bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees or professional certificates. Expanded academic offerings, including undergraduate degree completion options and industry-driven graduate programs, are helping the campus increase enrollment to its highest levels to date.
