Professor in engineering and technology appointed

OLATHE — George Yang, Ph.D., joins Kansas State University Olathe as a professor in engineering and technology.

In this role, Yang will focus on meeting the needs of regional industries through targeted program offerings and strategic collaborations. He will drive continuous improvement of the engineering technology programs with a focus on addressing the evolving needs of regional manufacturers while shaping the direction and offerings to align with industrial demands and emerging technological trends.

“We are excited for Dr. Yang to join our team and to help support our strategic imperative for advanced manufacturing,” said Ben Wolfe, dean and CEO of K-State Olathe. “He brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience that will guide our students and elevate their understanding of bulk solids.”

Yang will collaborate with department faculty and industry experts to design curriculum components that directly address the requirements of regional industries and ensures that program offerings are closely aligned with industry standards, processes and technologies.

Yang also will provide mentorship and support to faculty members within the engineering technology programs. He will foster a culture of teaching excellence and scholarly engagement while encouraging professional development opportunities that enhance industry-relevant experience.

Prior to joining the team at K-State Olathe, Yang served as a professor and chair for the department of engineering technology at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, where he developed and started several degree programs and taught a variety of courses in electronics, manufacturing and construction.

Yang started his career in higher education as an assistant professor in the department of technology at Kanas State University Salina, where he taught computer-numerical-control machining, thermodynamics, advanced materials sciences and material strength and testing.

Currently, Yang is serving as an editor of several research journals. He has been a keynote speaker and organizing chair at many international research conferences.
