OLATHE — Kansas State University Olathe is meeting industry demand by offering three advanced manufacturing training courses this fall.
Advanced manufacturing and supply chain is a strategic initiative at K-State Olathe designed to serve the growing manufacturing industry in the Greater Kansas City region and nationwide. As a Top 15 industrial market in the U.S., the region already has 190,000 manufacturing and logistics workers with many more needed to meet growth projections.
To help address this need and upskill the current workforce, K-State Olathe is offering three upcoming programs. Each course covers a different aspect, making this programming an ideal way to deepen knowledge on each bulk solids topic.
Dust Collection and Safety: Learning the Fundamentals | Aug. 14-15
Dust collection is a part of every facility that handles powders and other bulk solid materials, but practical instruction is hard to come by. This course will explain how dust collection systems are designed and explain selection and sizing for each component. Dust explosion hazards and prevention also will be explained.
Material Properties Testing and Application of Results | Sep. 24-25
Understanding material properties is a key part of designing and operating processes for powders and bulk solid materials. It is especially important for anyone who develops or improves these materials. This course provides an understanding of material properties and how they can be measured. Then it explains and demonstrates how the properties are used to help choose and select equipment for handling and processing of bulk solids.
Basics of Pneumatic Conveying | Nov. 12-13
Pneumatic conveying is the most widely used method for transporting bulk solid materials, but frequent problems occur because few people receive formal training about the technology. This course provides a broad education about everything related to pneumatic conveying. Students receive an expert lecture about each topic, then take part in hands-on demonstrations using working components and actual conveying systems.
Customized Training
In addition to our fall line-up, our campus also offers customized training solutions to meet your company’s bulk solids handling education needs. Our trainings can be offered on campus or our instructors can come to your facility. Virtual and in-person training options are available.
We offer customized trainings on a variety of topics, including:
- Material property tests and how to evaluate your materials
- Gravity flow and storage of bulk solids
- Design of silos and bins
- Mixing basics
