Data Analytics and Insights in Animal Health graduate certificate comes to K-State Olathe

OLATHE — New this fall, Kansas State University Olathe is offering a first of its kind graduate certificate for students wanting to pursue a career in animal health data and technologies.
Data Analytics and Insights in Animal Health is a 15-credit hour graduate certificate designed to provide animal health professionals with the skills and tools they need to approach consumer problems, navigate product challenges and develop new solutions in an interdisciplinary manner through the power of data.
“Skill in data analytics is a critical need for the growing animal health industry," said Doug Shane, Ph.D., D.V.M. “The Data Analytics and Insights in Animal Health Graduate Certificate is based on industry input and exclusively tailored to the animal health industry.”
One of the challenges employers face is finding talent with both strong animal health and analytics domain knowledge, which is where this graduate certificate comes into play, Shane said. The growing use of data analytics and artificial intelligence in the $30 billion animal health industry has increased the demand for employees skilled in both data analytics and animal health. Employees with these specialized skills are an incredible asset because they can use data to provide insight about developing a new animal health technology or trying to better understand customers through commercial data.
