OLATHE — Kansas State University Olathe is offering two new graduate certificates for professionals wanting to increase their leadership and technical science skills as they pursue career advancement.
The Graduate Certificate in Professional Skills for STEM Practitioners is a 15-credit hour program that offers management, communication and critical thinking skills necessary for leadership roles in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics — or STEM — industries and fields.
The Graduate Certificate in Professional Interdisciplinary Sciences is a 12-credit hour program that delivers scientific and technical skills, which employers value in the Greater Kansas City area's animal health and food sectors.
"We're very excited to offer these new graduate certificates," said Janice Barrow, associate dean for academic affairs and executive education at Kansas State Olathe. "These certificate programs are designed so that someone who is motivated to master the skills needed to advance in their profession can do so in a convenient manner and become more valuable to their employer."
Classes for both certificates are offered online, face-to-face and as a combination of the two.
The new graduate certificates are offered through Kansas State Olathe's School of Applied and Interdisciplinary Studies and are the school's first steps toward offering a master's degree focused on enhancing professional skills for science managers.
