Ryan is a graduate student in the Public Health Core Concepts certificate program. He completed his M.S. and Ph.D. training in human nutrition at Michigan State University. He also earned an international development doctoral specialization by studying global food laws, regulations, and agricultural development. While at MSU, Ryan taught food microbiology, meat processing, and food product development to undergraduates pursuing food science degrees. Ryan’s research interests include understanding the effects of dietary polyphenols and carbohydrates on tumorigenesis in models of human colon cancer, and the influence of dietary fiber sources and dietary polyphenols on the microbiome and metabolome of humans and animals. Ryan is also a Marine Corps Veteran and served in the Asia-Pacific region as a public affairs specialist. |
