Ryan Walker, Ph.D.

Ryan is a graduate student in the Public Health Core Concepts certificate program. He completed his M.S. and Ph.D. training in human nutrition at Michigan State University. He also earned an international development doctoral specialization by studying global food laws, regulations, and agricultural development. While at MSU, Ryan taught food microbiology, meat processing, and food product development to undergraduates pursuing food science degrees. Ryan’s research interests include understanding the effects of dietary polyphenols and carbohydrates on tumorigenesis in models of human colon cancer, and the influence of dietary fiber sources and dietary polyphenols on the microbiome and metabolome of humans and animals. Ryan is also a Marine Corps Veteran and served in the Asia-Pacific region as a public affairs specialist.

Maxwell Amoako
Maxwell Amoako is a graduate of the Master of Science (MS) Integrative Neuroscience program at Georgetown University. Maxwell graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Cognitive & Behavioral Neuroscience at Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, Virginia). At Virginia Tech, Maxwell worked as a research assistant in Dr. Sheryl Ball’s Economics Laboratory and participated in human transcranial direct-current stimulation (tDCS) studies. At Georgetown University, he was a research assistant in Dr. Xiong Jiang’s Cognitive Neuroimaging Lab and used SPM12 software to conduct Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) analysis. In neuroscience, Maxwell's primary interest is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Patrick Tajanlangit is a rising junior at George Washington University (GWU), pursuing a Bachelor of Science, with a major in public health and minor in psychology. Currently, Patrick is working on projects at an endocrinology and psychology lab. He also serves as an integral part of the student life at GWU, serving as the Milken Institute School of Public Health Senator.

Megan Eppler
Megan Eppler is a graduate student in the Master of Public Health program at Kansas State University. Her general focus is in infectious disease and zoonoses and she hopes to pursue the field of parasitology. She has a passion for aiding populations with limited medical care where parasites are prevalent. The near-eradication of Dracunculus medinensis by the Carter Center inspired her to care for overlooked medical problems, such as entire villages falling blind from Onchocerca volvulus. Megan graduated with a B.S. in Biology and an English minor from Kansas State University.

Antoinette Lona, MS
Antoinette Lona is an August 2021 graduate of the Kansas State University MS program in Veterinary Biomedical Sciences. Antoinette is currently a research associate at the Center of Excellence for Emerging and Zoonotic Animal Disease, and is beginning a PhD in Public Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago in Spring 2022.

Lauren Davis is the Global Head of Operations at CloverLeaf Animal Welfare Systems. Lauren is also an MPH student in Food Safety and Biosecurity at Kansas State University.

Danielle Preskitt, MA
Danielle Preskitt, MA, is a graduate of the Middlebury Institute's Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies Program. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Kansas State University with her research focusing on the interaction between environmental extremists' groups and the US government, as well as the implications for bio and agrodefense.

Paparwee Sungkatavat, MPH
Paparwee Sungkatavat, BVSc, MPH, is a veterinarian based in Thailand, a graduate of Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, and an August 2021 graduate of the Kansas State University MPH program.

Justin Kastner
Dr. Justin Kastner conducts scholarly activities in several domains: the global food system and international trade policy, economic history and the history of science, the history of public health, globalization and cross-border cooperation, multidisciplinary thinking and writing, and the theory and practice of interdisciplinary scholarship.
