The training is $25 per student and covers the cost of materials and lunch. Please note that it is capped at 15 students.
About the Workshop
This is a day-long, entry-level, hands-on training for college and graduate students. Attendees will receive a basic overview of lab equipment, protocols and procedures, as well as an opportunity for applied practice — helping them be more industry ready.

The workshop is offered via a partnership between K-State Olathe and KCAS Bioanalytical and Biomarker Services.
Paige Adams actively teaches, recruits and supervises students in various graduate programs that focus on animal and human health. She also is involved in professional development programs at the campus that focuses on the regulations of drugs and vaccines for animals. Adams is experienced as a practicing large animal veterinarian, with a specialty in surgery, as well as a research scientist. Overall, her experiences as a large animal veterinarian and research scientist of zoonotic diseases make her an ideal fit for graduate programs that focus on the improvement of animal and human health (One Health).
Manreet Bhullar is a food microbiologist and agricultural scientist with a research focus on enhancing the microbial safety of fresh produce. His research lab at K-State Olathe, emphases on identifying various routes of contamination in the food supply chain and developing antimicrobial interventions to minimize risks and protect public health. His research expertise includes non-thermal processing of liquid foods with particular emphasis on UV-C disinfection, and agricultural water testing to ensure Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule compliance.
Patrick Abeli oversees the operations for the Postharvest Physiology Lab at K-State Olathe. This includes maintaining the quality of research equipment, supplies, computer software and documentation that make the research possible. He also ensures that researchers are conducting studies safely, are properly trained on equipment and that lab equipment is not faulty or broken.
