VBS Alumni Profile

Jennafer D.
August 2021 Graduate

Jennafer D.

Jennafer D. recently joined Ceva Animal Health as an international regulatory affairs specialist — a career move that she partially attributes to K-State Olathe's M.S. in Veterinary Biomedical Science program.

What's your bachelor's degree in?

Animal Sciences and Industry from Kansas State University in 2014.

Why did you decide to earn a VBS degree?

My passions have always been in science, research and animal health/science. I wanted a degree that would help me learn about all of the above and was in tune with the industry both here in KC and also in the Animal Health Corridor. This program seemed perfect and I believe that I gained what I was looking for.

How has the VBS degree contributed to your career so far?

The classes themselves helped me better understand my jobs as I took each one. The curriculum was very relevant and I believe would be helpful to most in the science industries here.

I've met so many fantastic people through the program as well. The professors, guest lecturers, alumni and classmates were all a pleasure and I learned a lot from all of them.

I plan to continue my career in animal health and believe that this program was an essential part in being able to do so.

What was the student experience like at K-State Olathe?

Flexible and understanding. I was able to work full-time in my career and still take a full course load because class times were so flexible. Dr. Adams met with me at least weekly while I was finishing my Master's Report, even at times that I wouldn't consider convenient for most, just to help guide me in the way that a graduate student needs from their mentor. She goes above and beyond for all of her students and I honestly don't know how she does it. She was integral in my completion of the program.
