Cassidy Moreau, L.M.S.W.
Veterinary Social Worker
Cassidy Moreau, L.M.S.W., is the first veterinary social worker at Kansas State University's Veterinary Health Center. Her work sits at the intersection of One Health, mental health and the human–animal bond, building systems that support both veterinary teams and the clients they serve.
Cassidy founded the "Paws of Comfort" grief support group, leads evidence-informed workshops on communication, resilience and burnout mitigation, and integrates social-work frameworks — trauma-informed care, person-in-environment and structural competency — into veterinary education and hospital practice. She collaborates across disciplines to improve outcomes in client communication, end-of-life care, shelter/community outreach and staff well-being.
Cassidy also publishes and presents on veterinary social work as a community practice, advocating for practical, team-based solutions that strengthen animal care by caring for the people connected to it.

Caring for Caregivers as One Health: A Veterinary Social Worker's Perspective
Veterinary professionals, farmers and animal caregivers are vital to the health of animals, people and communities — yet their own well-being is often overlooked. This talk explores how supporting the mental health of those who care for animals strengthens the human–animal bond, improves animal outcomes and advances the One Health/One Welfare mission. Drawing on her work as Kansas State University's first veterinary social worker, Cassidy Moreau shares practical insights on resilience, grief support and the critical role of caring for caregivers in building a healthier future for all.
