Carolyn Henry, D.V.M., M.S., is the director of the Research Center for Human-Animal Interaction (ReCHAI) at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, a program established in 2005 to conduct pioneering research in the dynamic and evolving field of human-animal relationships.
Her interest in human-animal interaction is rooted in her years of clinical medicine in veterinary emergency and cancer care settings. An internationally recognized oncologist, Henry has been board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) for more than 30 years and served as president of both the Veterinary Cancer Society and ACVIM Specialty of Oncology.
Henry served as the dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri for 6 years and associate dean of Research and Graduate Studies before that, promoting a One Health approach to health and wellness. Her career reflects a deep dedication to the well-being of animals and the strengthening of the human-animal bond, with an emphasis on quantitative research outcomes to support clinical practices.
