M.S. Research Assistantship, Urban Food Production and Postharvest Handling Lab (posted Jan. 27, 2023)

An M.S. research assistantship is available in the Urban Food Production and Postharvest Handling Lab within the Department of Horticulture and Natural Resources at Kansas State University based at the KSU Olathe Campus. The successful candidate will be advised by Dr. Eleni Pliakoni in collaboration with Dr. Tie Liu and Dr. Jeff Brecht from the University of Florida. The research project will be focused on molecular diagnostic measurement of the “freshness” of fresh produce, ultimately leading to improvement of quality management and reduction of postharvest food losses.

Manager, Sensory and Consumer Research Center (posted Dec. 20, 2022)

This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day acquisition, management, and implementation of contract consumer research studies. Other expectations for this position may include helping in developing workshop series, assisting with descriptive studies, and supervising the research assistant, students and part-time staff in conducting research studies. This individual will collaborate with Olathe staff responsible for K–12 relationships in the local community and conduct studies suited to the Olathe/Greater Kansas City area and in partnership with other research agencies nationally and internationally.
