This program emphasizes hands-on experience and real-world engineering applications over advanced mathematical theory. This means you'll develop the knowledge base to take a concept and build a working prototype, debug accompanying hardware and software and integrate electronic subsystems that support the final product as it's used in the field.

Certificate Pathway
The B.S. in Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology can be earned as a standalone degree or by completing the Applied Electronics and Industrial Automation certificates and the K-State Core courses. Those who earn their degree by completing both engineering certificates will have a deeper understanding of electronic and computer automation.
You also can start in either engineering certificate program and later transfer your credits toward the B.S. in Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology.

Electronic and computer engineering technicians work in all areas of the electronics industry, including industrial control electronics, communications, and digital systems.
The degree is especially well suited for careers in embedded systems, industrial automation, electronics design, testing, manufacturing, telecommunications and systems integration.

Labs are paired with a majority of classes for hands-on learning. Lab spaces are equipped with the same technologies and computer systems used in industry. This ensures you'll be ready for the industry workplace.
Labs will be in-person and are currently planned for Saturdays or in the evenings to align with working students' schedules. Details will be posted once finalized.

Compared to a B.S. in Computer Engineering and B.S. in Electrical Engineering degree programs, the B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology features:
