Angela Kerner is the kitchen operations specialist in food programs.
In this position, Kerner is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Food Innovation Accelerator, a 50+ client shared use kitchen complex. This includes on-boarding of new businesses, training of clients and their employees and troubleshooting production issues and enforcing operating rules and regulations.
Kerner assists with client product development and refinement, ensures state inspection readiness and assists with licensing and state inspection compliance. Additionally, she maintains kitchen cleanliness and functionality through equipment maintenance and repair, general sanitation and inventory management. Kerner also assists with program set-up and breakdown, food preparation and supports events, including studies hosted by the Sensory and Consumer Research Center.
Prior to joining the team at K-State Olathe, Kerner served as a prep cook at Woodside Health Club, where she prepared food and cold-pressed juices for the Grab & Go section, coordinated with the executive chef to develop menu items and created standard operating procedures for staple items.
Additionally, Kerner worked as an affiliate operations coordinator at Greater Salina Community Foundation. During her time as a coordinator, she oversaw everyday operations for thirteen affiliate foundations, attended advisory board meetings and created the first yearly operating calendar for all affiliate foundations.
She was also a co-owner and the business manager of Ad Astra Books and Coffee House in Salina. During this time, Kerner implemented a budgeting system to coordinate spending, supported guests throughout their time at the coffee house and provided assistance with book selection for any guests.
Kerner holds a B.F.A. in Art History from the University of Kansas and is a graduate of Leadership Salina
