Ron Trewyn

ronRon W. Trewyn isn't only an accomplished researcher; he is a champion for the research of others. As the vice president for research, Trewyn is involved in directing the office of research and overseeing research compliance. He works to ensure that K-State can obtain research funding, and secures patents and licensing agreements for K-State faculty.

He joined K-State in 1994, and became the dean of the graduate school in 1999.

Trewyn has been awarded 15 competitive extramural grants, and has written 39 peer-reviewed journal articles, 10 book chapters, three review articles, and 31 scientific abstracts. He has been awarded cancer research grants worth $3.5 million, and was granted a patent for a cancer detection method. He has lectured at international symposia, scientific and non-scientific meetings, universities and pharmaceutical companies, and has provided testimony before committees of the Kansas and Ohio legislatures and the National Academy of Sciences.

His professional memberships include the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Sigma Xi honorary society.

Trewyn received his bachelor's degree from Wisconsin State University, and his doctorate in microbial physiology/biochemistry and genetics from Oregon State University.

Trewyn's research interests include the molecular and cellular events involved in cancer development and treatment.
