Timothy de Noble

Tim de Noble, an architect with international experience in design and teaching, joined Kansas State University July 1, 2009, as dean of the College of Architecture, Planning & Design.

From 2005-2009, de Noble led the University of Arkansas architecture department. He also taught at Syracuse University from 1992-1997 and designed projects in Ecuador, upstate New York and Arkansas. He taught for two years in Florence, Italy, before returning to Arkansas to join the University of Arkansas faculty and open his firm, denoblearchitecture P.A., now called deMX architecture P.A.

A licensed architect, he is member of the American Institute of Architects, an affiliate member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and a member of the International Interior Design Association.

He has served as a principal with denoblearchitecture and deMx architecture, which focus on housing combining the socially liberating potency of modernism with the intuitive rationality of vernacular building to generate regionally specific responses to built form and site.

De Noble is active in the profession and in the community. He was appointed by Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback to the State Building Advisory Commission. He is university liaison to the Kansas chapter of the American Institute of Architects' board of directors. He previously served on the board of directors of the Arkansas chapter of the American Institute of Architects and as chair of the northwest Arkansas section of the American Institute of Architects in 2004. Recently he has served as a consultant for the review of the architecture program at Florida International University and as a panelist on Library Journals' Landmark Libraries' Competition.

Born and raised in Little Rock, de Noble earned a bachelor of science in architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1986 and a master of architecture from Syracuse University in 1992. He and his wife, Anne de Noble, have three sons.
