Steve CurranPlant Manager, General Mills Inc.

As Plant Manager for one of the largest flour mills and dry mix operations in the U.S., Steve Curran is responsible for the safety and well-being of 140 team members who make, pack and ship more than 3 million pounds of product per day, including Gold Medal Flour and Betty Crocker Bisquick.

Curran has more than 40 years of experience in the Grain Processing Industry, which includes 22 years with General Mills in various capacities and 17 years as a teacher and advisor at the department of grain science and industry at Kansas State University.

Part of his experience in the industry includes the design and start-up of his own organic wheat flour mill that he operated until it was purchased by another milling company.

During his tenure at Kansas State University, Curran also was involved in wheat crop assessment and new variety development as well as teaching in international short courses in flour milling. University credits also include being awarded a patent for a Short Flow Milling Process in 1992.

Curran is a 40-year member of the International Association of Operative Millers, where he has held positions of District Chairman, Chairman of the Education Committee, member of the Technical Committee, Conference Program Chairman, Board of Directors and President of the Association. He has presented technical papers at both district and international meetings and received the IAOM Gold Medal award in 2011 for his contributions to the milling industry.

Curran holds a B.S. in Milling Science & Management and M.S. in Grain Science from Kansas State University.
