Our Story
Kansas State University's Olathe campus opened to the Greater Kansas City community on April 26, 2011.
The campus' LEED Silver Certified International Animal Health and Food Safety Institute is the first higher education facility supported by a local tax. The ongoing tax support makes it equivalent to one of the country's largest endowments ever to a higher education public institution initiative.
Academic programs support Greater Kansas City's robust animal health, food production and safety, hospitality and leadership and education industries and sectors.
K-State Olathe also works closely with K-12 schools, community colleges and industry in Johnson County to establish an education pipeline that spans from elementary school to in-demand graduate degree and certificate programs.
In addition to traditional academic programs, the campus offers professional development programming. A specific focus is put on animal health regulatory affairs and essential leadership skills.
