An experienced food and marketing services professional, Bert Lawson has worked for more than 30 years in the food industry with every job, including a little in sensory evaluation.

Before joining K-State Olathe, Lawson managed the Research and Development Culinary Center at Smithfield Foods Inc. for more than 19 years. Throughout her career, she used her expertise in consumer, food and food service trends to develop innovative concepts and new products, as well as recipes and cooking instructions for food service customers and retail consumers.

Today, Bert uses her research and development background to assist the Sensory and Consumer Research Center by developing screeners and questionnaires for the center's clients. Figuring out the right questions to ask and how to ask them is key to providing clients with the information they need.
