The purpose of this program is to study the urban food system's potential to promote healthy, thriving urban communities through economic development, education, community building and — of course — nutritious food! K-State is the only university in the country with an urban food systems program, which allows us to uniquely position graduates for successful careers in this growing field.

Urban food systems is a specialization under the Master of Science in Horticulture and Natural Resources program. Students can choose from a thesis, report or professional option. This specialization emphasizes sustainable agriculture, project management and grant writing.

The Graduate Certificate in Urban Food Systems is an online, interdisciplinary program in which students gain perspective about the urban food systems environment and the cultural, political, environmental and economic roles within them.
