The Laboratory for Experimental Analytics and Platform Systems

Advancing Research, Industry and Innovation by LEAPS.

Coming Spring 2027.

The Laboratory for Experimental Analytics and Platform Systems, or LEAPS, is an upcoming core facility designed to support applied research, industry collaboration and workforce development in analytical science.

The lab will provide access to advanced analytical platforms and scientific expertise for academic researchers, industry partners and other clients seeking solutions in a variety of fields and key sectors, including food, pet food, veterinary related testing, wastewater and biological sample analysis.

Core Services

Collaboration and Guidance

Collaborate with the LEAPS staff to identify the right analytical approach for complex samples, technical recommendations and/or generate the appropriate data outputs needed to support research objects.

Technical Training and Education

Technical training and education in analytical chemistry, laboratory operations and quality control to support workforce development across career stages, from new hires to experienced professional seeking to expand skillsets.

University Support

In addition to providing testing and education services for Greater Kansas City-based clients and collaborators, LEAPS' testing capabilities will assist researchers across Kansas State University's three campuses. K-State researchers currently rely on external laboratories for mass spectral analysis of water, grains and other research materials when specialized instrumentation is not readily available on campus. The Olathe-based LEAPS facility will expand university capacity by providing timely, in-house analytical testing and scientific expertise to support research projects, industry partnerships and applied problem-solving.
