Olathe Horticulture Research and Extension Center

Located in rural Johnson County, Kansas, the Olathe Horticulture Research and Extension Center, or OHREC, is 342 acres of land that serves as space for hands-on, plant- and produce-related research.

The center, which is part of K-State's department of horticulture and natural resources, supports six full-time employees, several graduate students in the M.S. in Horticulture with an emphasis in Urban Food Systems program and part-time summer student workers.

It is also home to the Johnson County Extension Master Gardner program.

Growing Greater KC’s industries

K-State and K-State Olathe are supporting the region's produce, turfgrass and forestry industries through education, research and outreach.
