Darrin Grondel
Darrin Grondel currently serves as the vice president of traffic safety and government relations for the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility. He directs Responsibility.org’s state government relations and traffic safety portfolio, with an emphasis on the impaired driving system. Grondel previously served as the director of the Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) 2012-2020 and retired as a captain in 2017 from the Washington State Patrol after 25 years of service. He proudly served as chair of the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) from 2018 – April 2020. He also served as GHSA secretary from 2015 - 2018. Grondel earned his doctorate in organizational leadership from Brandman University (2016), M.P.A. from the Evergreen State College (2004) and B.A. in Political Science from Brigham Young University (1995).
