About the Graduate Degree Program

Kansas State University's Olathe campus offers a Master of Science in Horticulture with an emphasis in Urban Food Systems graduate degree. The program focuses on how the urban food system impacts economic development and provides a source of nutritious, safe food grown locally/regionally. The specialization places an emphasis on sustainable agriculture, food systems project management, and safe food production in an urban environment.

Tailored to Student Desires, Industry Needs

Students can choose between a 30-credit hours thesis track or a 36-credit hours professional track. Students can customize the program to their area of interest with eight to 18 elective credit hours.

There also are opportunities to work on commercial farms, research stations and other nearby food projects in the practicum course.
