STUDENT POSTER SESSION | CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Scholarships awarded for each division
One Health describes the complex interrelationships between human, animal and environmental health. Each year, groups from around the world — Greater Kansas City included — join together to celebrate collaborations that lead to improved quality of life. The theme for this year's event is, "Climate Change and Extreme Weather Events."
To inspire the next generation of scientists, doctors and veterinarians, high school and college students (both undergraduate and graduate level) are encouraged to present a poster and compete for cash scholarships.
Submit an abstract
Students are invited to submit a title and abstract of less than 250 words by 5 p.m. on Oct. 21 via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Any One-Health-related topic is welcomed including, but not limited to, emerging infectious diseases, food safety and security, antimicrobial resistance, invasive species, environmental pollution and loss of biodiversity. A formal definition of One Health can be found on the One Health Commission website.
Selected presenters will be notified on Oct. 23. The posters may take the form of dry research (literature review) or wet research. Posters should be freestanding and are suggested to be tri-fold, floor or table-top versions, no larger than 4 ft. by 6 ft. Posters will be judged during the event and a cash scholarship will be awarded for the winning poster in each division (high school - $200, undergraduate - $400, and graduate - $400).
To prepare for the poster session, students are encouraged to utilize the following resources:
- How to develop a research topic
- How to make your poster using PowerPoint
- Tips for great posters, and how to “work the crowd”
Students receive free registration to the event by using the promo code STUDENT on the website registration page. See the full agenda and register
