Senior Vice President and Principal, George Butler Associates, Inc. (GBA)
As a senior vice president at GBA, Dan Abitz oversees the buildings group, a dedicated team of architects, engineers, commissioning specialists and construction managers. Abitz brings more than 25 years working with public and private sector clients in these capacities. He has extensive experience serving the pharmaceutical and biotech industries and currently leads GBA’s efforts in that market. His knowledge of the design, construction and commissioning requirements for the specialized facilities of biopharmaceutical clients provides insight into what is required to construct quality, cost-effective facilities that meet this industry’s needs. Abitz has spoken about facility design and project quality assurance at educational seminars sponsored by the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE). He is well versed in building commissioning and has presented at events for the American Biological Safety Association, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Association of State Facility Administrators and the Association of General Contractors. Abitz is a member of the Kansas City Area Development Council and serves on the Kansas City Life Sciences Advisory Council.
He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas State University and an MBA from Rockhurst University.
